Rememberances – Something You Can Control
Posted: February 1, 2013 Filed under: General Leave a commentI am a lover of control! I like to control the finances, the household and many other aspects of my life. That need to control causes me many frustrations. We all know that there are things that you can’t control (although we will try!) – one of those is your time to die. OK – hang in with me this is going to get more uplifting. When you pass, there will probably be a funeral, memorial or other rememberance. Now is the time to control what is said about you there!
I attended a memorial of a 49 year old woman that had died of cancer. The service was sad but very uplifting. This woman died too young but had obviously left a ray of sunshine as she left this world. In that sunshine I found a message.
This woman had friends and family talk about her smile – that lit up not only her face but the entire room, her faith – how she prayed for healing but didn’t shake her fist at God for having this devastating disease, and her love – how she gave out love to everyone she met. I left telling my husband that if I can have those things said about me – then I will die one happy woman!
So, take control of the things that are important – really important! Love thy neighbor, Give with your Heart and have Faith!
Man was Created
Posted: October 3, 2012 Filed under: Men | Tags: Dealing with Men Leave a commentMen! Always a conversation piece for women. Whether single, divorced, married, young or old, a woman can always find something to talk about relating to men. So, I am going to start you on the subject and give you a hint on how I stay out of jail by not killing my husband. How I try to justify my crazy brother’s behavior to my sister-in-law. And how I often shake my head in amazement and understanding at the things my friends do for their little baby boys!
You see, I go back to Genesis in the Bible. God created Man in his own image. All any man had to do was hear or read that and BOOM! – I am God! Really, that explains so much. Man was the first being, the leader of all things. He was IN CHARGE! But he was also lonely. I mean, really, do you think the plants and animals really gave him the recognition he needed? No! So, God created Woman! Hey, now here’s someone who was put here just for ME! And, wow, is she multi-talented. She becomes Man’s helper, companion, friend, lover, etc. And, it allows Man to be the leader, the ruler, the IN CHARGE person!
Do you see where I am going? Many of you will be revolted by what I am about to say! You will call me anti-feminist and other things much worse! But, hear me out!
As the world and Man and Woman evolved, so did their roles in the world. I’m not God and am not really that great of student of God. But if Man was created in the image of God and it is in his core that he is born to be the leader and the ruler, then today’s world must offer some really big struggles. So, for me, to tolerate my Man’s often hostile or assholish behavior, I go back to his core. . . . . did someone or something threaten him as the leader/ruler/god of his world?
More to come later!
Just Let Me Vent

I think I used those words a few times to my husband after a bad day at the office. But that was me and I was an adult. And my husband was an adult. So, I didn’t want him to fix anything! I was very capable of fixing it myself. I just wanted to vent my frustrations – get it off my chest! The gall of him to think I couldn’t handle it! I thought – “That’s just a Man, always wanting to FIX something!”
But look at what’s happened! I am hearing those words from my daughter in college. What? She doesn’t want me to give her some advice? She doesn’t want me to send someone an email or call her teacher? She doesn’t want me to FIX it? The gall of her to think she can handle it! I’ve always been there to kiss her boo-boos! Now, I am just a sounding board!
UGH! It’s the first signs of empty-nesting! Give me a minute! Take a breath.
So now, when she calls me in tears telling me how tough it is, I take a deep breath and say . . .
“Grow Some Balls! They will serve you well! Love you!”
Did I Really Volunteer for This?
Posted: September 20, 2012 Filed under: General, Volunteering | Tags: booster club, days like today Leave a commentI love volunteering for a good cause! Most of my volunteering has been for one of my kid’s schools or sports. Some days, like today, I have to look in the mirror and ask myself, Did I Really Volunteer for This? Do I really want to associate with these people? Did they really just say that? Can’t anyone just roll with the flow? Did you think before you actually pushed send?
Of course, I am probably just assuming that because all of these parents have their kids in the same private school, they have a lot in common with me. You know: They have to be able to afford the tuition. Their kids like to play the same sport. Their kids are in high school so they’ve probably been involved in the organization of the booster club or team meals!
But NO! They act like you are trying to modify the Declaration of Independence if you offer up 1 change from how it’s been done before. They write emails that indirectly accuse you of not doing your part – or, better yet, you are probably taking advantage of them. They gasp at the fact that you would ask them to spend $8 for their child’s meal that will be delivered to them at school.
Have they checked the gas prices lately? Hmmm, if I drive my SUV to the store to get the sandwich ingredients then make the sandwich and deliver it to school – I would have spent that much in GAS!
So, my friends, chill. . . roll with a few changes. . . stop and think that some of the people in this world want to give you a ripple in your pond! Enjoy the bump!
